Our parents and our grandfathers believed, that because of the changing times, that perhaps it was better for us to attend the Indian residential schools, because we could learn to write, and we could learn the cunning of the white man in order for us to survive in the future. Well that didn't happen readily. It didn't happen to us. We did learn a little bit later on but at a very heavy price.
