    Blue Quills IRS is the first school to come under First Nations control

    1970: Blue Quills IRS is the first school to come under First Nations control. The National Indian Brotherhood calls for an end to federal control of native schooling. Northern schools for Inuit students come under the authority of the government of the Northwest Territories.
