    1940s - 1950s: Government begins efforts to integrate Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal education. Inuit children begin to be transported to residential schools and hostels run by Anglican and Catholic churches with federal subsidies. Standard curricula are introduced. The half-day labour program is officially ended.
